Aglianico del Vulture del Vulcano is a distinguished red wine from the Basilicata region in southern Italy, holding the prestigious DOC designation. Made from 100% Aglianico grapes grown on the mineral-rich volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture, this wine captures the unique character of its terroir.
It displays a deep, intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it offers complex aromas of ripe dark cherry, plum, dried violet, leather, tobacco, and distinctive mineral and earthy notes derived from the volcanic soil. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with firm yet smooth tannins, bright balancing acidity, and a long, persistent finish marked by hints of dark spice and dried fruit.
This wine is perfect for ageing but also enjoyable now, pairing beautifully with rich red meats, game, slow-cooked stews, roasted lamb, and aged hard cheeses.
